The Fondazione Pietà de’ Turchini resumes its vibrant scholarly activity with Cantieri25 – Between Performance Practice and History, now in its third edition. The initiative features three days of talks and encounters, from 13 to 15 November, hosted in the Church of Santa Caterina da Siena. Two main events stand out: the Presentation of the National Edition of the Works of Alessandro Scarlatti, curated by Turchini Edizioni on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the composer’s death (Friday, 13 November, 6:15 p.m.), and the concert Immortali Mortali / Mortali Immortali, conducted by Walter Testolin with the Ensemble RossoPorpora (Saturday, 14 November, 8:30 p.m.), also at Santa Caterina da Siena.

Conceived as a forum for dialogue on historical performance practice — the result of decades of reflection on “philological performance” and the evolution of twentieth-century research — Cantieri has become a key reference point for all those who approach early music with both rigor and passion, fostering a fertile exchange between “practitioners” and “theorists.”

This year’s edition, in addition to its focus on Scarlatti, explores themes of dance, devotion, and sacred theatre, including a session dedicated to French choreutic influences in Italy, as well as presentations of new discographic and bibliographic publications on European composers for the Neapolitan stage in the eighteenth century.
